On Friday Marc and I took a trip to Kirtland Ohio to pick up a sailboat. We went early to see some Historical Sites. This is the Kirtland Temple owned by the Community of Christ Church. Built by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. It is still in really wonderful shape and is filled with amazing craftsmanship. From there we went to see the Newell K. Whitney Store. We saw the room where the Prophet Joseph Smith, Jr. received revelations and also the room where the School of the Prophets was held. We visited the sawmill and the Ashery where they made soap from ashes members donated from their fireplaces. Lots of other neat stuff, too. We had a much better appreciation of Newell K. Whitney, who was a very generous, honest and inovative man who was a tremendous help to the church in Kirtland. We finished our tours, found our hotel, ate dinner and got the boat the next day. It was an easy trip although the wind was howling, pushing us home at 25 mph the whole way on Saturday.
The thing I like about this picture was that all members of the family are helped to build the Temple. This is only the left hand corner of this painting of the Temple being built.

I LOVE that picture of you guys - so cute. And why haven't we done that trip before? Sounds like it was fun.
